Deviant art view my past comments9/25/2023 The bad feedback coming in at 1,000+ comments per hour, and all the negative feedback for the past 3 years should tell you something. You post all over Twitter "we listen to the users, we care about the users" If you did - this is what you would do. You have had two versions of the site up for nearly 2 years - doing it for the lifetime is no different. You can just forget about it and us that want the old DA to stay the way it was will be happy with it. Leave it the way it was and leave it alone. Throw the old site's code on an old server rack that is laying around the office and let the people that want to use it keep using it as a legacy support with the stipulation that bugs and things will not be corrected. FA has it, and they have about 70% less budget than you do and their code has not been updated since 2005.ĭA net worth - $688,000,000 ($3,365,940 earned per month)įA net worth - $55,750,000 ($208,710 earned per month)ĭA: "it's not financially available to keep two versions of the site running" How about you make the old website design a setting people can choose. We removed banner ads across the site, so increase pageviews for what purpose? "Using it to increase pageviews" doesn't really make any sense because it isn't actually a pageview (it doesn't load another page). But the way it goes into your full browser history is a bit annoying though, but I'm not sure if that can be controlled. These updated URLs don't show in your current session history - like if you press and hold on your back button, it'll only show your last URL. Here's some more technical information about it: When you click on a reddit post, it loads the reddit post in a pop-up, and changes the URL, but your browser did not actually load a different URL - it just loaded the content inline and swapped out the URL in your browser. This is the same technique that many sites do. For example: if you're on a journal with 500 comments, and you scroll down to comment 100, then click someone's profile, then go back, it'll load that journal starting at comment #100 so you haven't lost your place. Your browser isn't "loading" a new page as you scroll, it's simply updating the URL in your URL bar so that if you reload, or if you click a link, then go back, DeviantArt will load exactly where you were. The only one where it worked was one where the transformation was the central conflict.Heya - we implemented this to save the state of where you're browsing. Stories of men turning into women, women turning into monsters, old people turning young, etc. A bizarre fascination with transformations.I even admitted in the story there was no reason for it! One story also included the villain quoting "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha for no reason. The worst was a story that was basically nothing but characters riding "parodies" of Disneyland attractions. Many stories included screenshots because I was too lazy to actually describe the visuals of the story, or would link to (now-dead) YouTube videos with songs the characters were listening to. I still like writing female characters, but now, I'm more careful about it. Several female characters I wrote were crabby and rude, but were also often the only voice of reason in the group, because I thought writing a character like that would be empowering to women.
